The Graylyn Estate has been named the #2 ‘Best Boutique Hotel’ in the United States by USA TODAY’s Readers’ Choice Awards. After a nomination by a team of travel experts and weeks of voting, USA TODAY 10 Best announced the results today, naming The Graylyn Estate as the only North Carolina hotel to make the list.
“We are thrilled to announce that The Graylyn Estate has been named the #2 best boutique hotel in the United States by USA Today, according to the latest rankings! This is an improvement from our #4 result last year,” said Vice President of Hospitality and Auxiliary Services at Wake Forest University, John Wise. “We continue to be grateful for our team’s dedication to providing exceptional experiences.”
The Graylyn Estate features 85 historic and modern guest rooms nestled throughout the pristine 55-acre estate. Originally constructed in 1932, the estate was once the private residence of Mr. and Mrs. Bowman Gray. Later, the property was donated to Wake Forest University, restored to its original splendor, and transformed into a boutique hotel and conference center.
Graylyn’s legendary hospitality is experienced through timeless attention to service creating exquisite and unforgettable stays. Unique touches include serving guests Mrs. Gray’s Butterscotch cookies every afternoon and offering overnight guests unlimited ice cream in honor of Mr. Gray’s favorite treat. Graylyn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is the second largest historic home in North Carolina and is a member of Historic Hotels of America.
In May, The Graylyn Estate was honored by Community Appearance Commission of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County with the The Flora Ann Bynum Award for its century-long commitment to landscape preservation, dual-tree replacement, and pollinator conservation. Graylyn was also recently named in the Top 25 Best Of Adaptive Reuse and the Top 25 Most Romantic Hotels by Historic Hotels of America, and Best Event Space by Best of Winston.
