Staff member David Pennell has passed away

David Pennell passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025. David was a maintenance technician with Facilities and served the University for nearly 12 years. 

“Dave was a valued member of the Athletic Maintenance Team,” said Chris Stilley, maintenance manager. “He was often seen supporting events after hours and on weekends to ensure a smooth experience for athletes and fans. He was a kind and friendly colleague who will be missed.” 

The Wake Forest community extends our condolences to David’s family and friends. A gathering of friends will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, from 4:15 to 6:15 p.m., at Salem Funerals and Cremations. An obituary can be found here.
