Faculty and staff are invited to support A Bed and A Book‘s mission to create safe and enriching environments where every child can dream. Hosted by the Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character (ACLC) and Staff Advisory Council (SAC), volunteers will build beds to be delivered later to the homes of families in need.

The goal is to build 20 beds on April 1 from 2:00 – 3:30 p.m. on the Farrell Hall Terrace. Register here for this rewarding opportunity to work alongside colleagues and representatives from Allegacy Federal Credit Union – to serve the community. Then head over to the Farrell Hall Brick Drive to watch the BEM 318 and ACLC Community Bed Race: AWAKEN GREATNESS.

As part of the Leadership Experience Action Project, Professor Douglas Johnson’s BEM 318 students partnered with WFU Engineering students to design and build beds for the races. Enjoy pizza and salad from Hungry Howie’s and cheer for your favorite team. Eleven teams from BEM 318 will race to raise awareness and support for A Bed and A Book.

3:30 p.m. | Bed Showcase – vote for your favorite themed bed

3:45 p.m. | The races begin!

In addition to the Engineering Department, A Bed and A Book has partnered with the Office of Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement, Undergraduate Business Program, and WFU Housing/Residential Life to make this an engaging and fun event.
