WFDD has announced two key promotions in its news department. Eddie Garcia has been named news director, and Bethany Chafin has been named editorial director.

Eddie Garcia, who has been with WFDD since 2007, most recently served as the station’s interim news director and prior to that, managing editor. In his time at WFDD, Garcia has played an integral role in shaping the station’s news coverage, leading the news team through major regional stories and initiatives. His reporting and editing have been recognized with awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association and Public Media Journalists Association.

As news director, Garcia will oversee all aspects of WFDD’s news operations and continue to foster the station’s commitment to in-depth, thoughtful journalism.

Bethany Chafin has been with WFDD team since 2012 and has become an essential voice at the station. Chafin most recently served as assistant news director ensuring that all of WFDD’s stories meet rigorous editorial standards.

As editorial director, Chafin will oversee the editorial vision of the newsroom and continue her work producing high-quality stories that resonate with the station’s audience.
