Dear faculty and staff colleagues,

We are excited to announce the kickoff of our annual WakeUnited Campaign

WakeUnited supports the United Way of Forsyth County and helps us live out our Wake Forest spirit of Pro Humanitate by uniting our global campus community in a collective fundraising effort that supports our neighbors. This year’s campaign will run from today through Friday, Dec. 13.

We are partnered with the United Way to identify and address the most significant needs among those at risk in Winston-Salem and the surrounding area. In the past year, United Way of Forsyth County has served more than 36,000 members of our community with programs for housing, education, healthcare, and workforce development. In “Framing Our Future,” we committed ourselves to be a Community of Partnerships by “reinforcing Wake Forest’s role as a leading collaborator in Winston-Salem … by becoming a stronger partner in supporting and promoting the economic development of our communities.” The annual WakeUnited Campaign is a tangible step towards that critical goal.

We encourage you to visit the WakeUnited website where you can learn more about getting involved, watch this year’s campaign video, and make a pledge. Please also save the date for How Wake Works on November 19 where you can learn more about the campaign’s substantive impact across our county.

Each Monday during the campaign, you’ll hear from a member of our community over email about the United Way’s impact and receive updates about the campaign’s progress. We’re grateful to the campus partners who have provided wonderful prizes for a weekly drawing to be given to someone who donated to the campaign the previous week, regardless of amount. We’ll announce the winners and these gifts in these emails!

We hope you will support this year’s WakeUnited Campaign. Together, we can make a profound difference for so many of our neighbors in need.

Sincerely,

Michele Gillespie
