New AI tools available for faculty, staff and students
A message from Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer Mur Muchane
As we embark on a new academic year, Information Systems is excited to announce the expanded availability of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for our entire University community! Many of you have already started exploring the potential of these tools, and now, with broader access through your Wake Forest account, even more of you can take advantage of them.
Through our enterprise licensing, you can now explore AI chat tools like Google Gemini Chat and Microsoft Copilot Chat, as well as innovative image creation and other genAI features found in Adobe Firefly. These resources are available to all Wake Forest community members to support and inspire your work.
Whether you are brainstorming new ideas, sparking creativity for your projects, or enhancing your presentations with compelling visuals, these AI tools can be valuable companions. They are designed to assist you in a range of areas, from day-to-day operations to creative endeavors.
With great power, however, comes a shared responsibility to use these tools thoughtfully and ethically. To help guide you, here are a few key points to consider:
*Respect Privacy and Security: When using AI tools, please remember to protect your privacy and the University’s data. Avoid sharing any confidential, sensitive, or internal-use information. Safeguarding your personal information and institutional data is essential.
*Be Mindful of Intellectual Property: Users of AI tools should respect the intellectual property rights of others and understand the relevant laws and vendor terms regarding copyrights, patents, and data protection.
*Ensure Accuracy and Fairness: AI can be incredibly helpful, but it’s not infallible. Always verify the accuracy of AI-generated content, as it may occasionally include errors or unintended biases.
*Be Transparent: If you use AI to help produce written or creative work, acknowledge it. Clear communication ensures that the use of AI is understood in context.
We encourage you to explore these tools and see how they can elevate your work and creativity. For more information on accessing these AI resources, visit the AI at Wake Forest page on our website. As always, if you have questions or need support, feel free to reach out to The Bridge at help@wfu.edu, chat with a team member at help.wfu.edu, or call our team at 758-HELP.
