WFU security officer Sergio Ward has passed away

We are saddened to share that Wake Forest University Security Officer Gary Anthony Ward (Sergio) passed away on August 21 after a short illness at the age of 53.

In addition to his 18 years of service at Wake Forest, Ward was a DJ for Jet Set Jazz Radio on WQFS, a personal trainer, a life coach and an ordained minister.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 30, in Wait Chapel at Wake Forest University at 11:30 a.m. A portion of Lot A will be reserved for the event. Lots P and Q are available for faculty/staff parking.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to Saint Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or any animal rescue.
