Here’s how WFU will communicate with you in the event of an emergency
In collaboration with Wake Forest University Police (UPD), University Marketing and Communication (UMC) assists in communicating what actions to take in an emergency. Here’s how emergency communications are shared and what you can do to stay informed.
Wake Alert
Wake Alert is the University’s mass notification system for communicating about safety and security situations.
In an emergency or when a safety response is needed, alerts may be sent via text, email, phone call, the University website, social media, the WakeSafe app, computer screen takeover, indoor/outdoor warning systems and campus-wide audio/visual systems.
WakeSafe App
The WakeSafe app turns your cell phone into a personal security device.
The app shares emergency and safety notifications and provides direct access to UPD, 911 emergency services, emergency location sharing, social escape, and a peer-to-peer Friend Walk tool.
WakeAlert and the WakeSafe app allow the University to quickly disseminate important safety information and instructions to the entire campus community. Downloading the WakeSafe app and keeping contact information up-to-date are key actions for staying informed in an emergency.
