Volunteers needed to welcome WFU’s Class of 2028

A message from the Division of Campus Life

Happy Summer! We hope you are enjoying a slower pace and taking time to reflect and recharge.

Before we know it, we will welcome the Class of 2028 to campus! We are writing today with some details about their arrival into The Forest and to ask for your assistance in providing them the warm Wake welcome that has become a signature part of our experience for new Deacs.

This year, we are excited to duplicate the welcome we’ve always provided to our new Deacs who choose to participate in Pre-Orientation programs. As our Pre-Orientation programs have grown, we recognize the importance of introducing students to the same hospitality as other new students. Your warm welcome will make a huge difference in their transition.

Here is where we need the help of our campus partners: we need more volunteers to help our Pre-Orientation students move in. Needs are as follows:

  • Friday, August 16 (on campus only)
    • 8:45 AM to 10:45 AM – or – 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
      • Assist in moving new students into their residence halls – you will be assigned to a specific residential community.
  • Saturday, August 17 (on campus and at LJVM)
    • 8:45 AM to 10:45 AM – or – 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM
      • Help welcome new students and their families to Wake during their check-in experience at the LJVM Coliseum.
      • Assist in moving new students into their residence halls – you will be assigned to a specific residential community.
  • Wednesday, August 21 (on campus and at LJVM)
    • 7:45 AM to 10:15 AM – or – 10 AM to 12:30 PM
      • Help welcome new students and their families to Wake during their check-in experience at the LJVM Coliseum.
      • Assist in moving new students into their residence halls – you will be assigned to a specific residential community.

To register to volunteer, please sign up on GivePulse HERE. Volunteers must be Wake Forest University students, faculty or staff members.

For Faculty/Staff, please use the code WFUFacStaff24 to access shifts marked for FAC/STAFF. Please do NOT share this code with students.

If you have any questions, contact Zach Blackmon, associate director of operations in Residence Life and Housing, at blackmzr@wfu.edu.

Thank you in advance for your help in welcoming our newest Deacs to The Forest!
