R.I.D.E. certificate series launches

A message from Wake Forest University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is excited to announce the launch of the Foundations of R.I.D.E. Certificate series. The certificate series, open to faculty, staff and students, will launch officially in Fall 2024.

Faculty and staff can get started now by taking the only required workshop: Foundations of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in April.

About the certificate series

The Foundations of R.I.D.E. Certificate Series is a comprehensive program for faculty, staff and students designed for their involvement with realizing inclusion, diversity and equity. Through six comprehensive workshops, participants will explore the principles of diversity, equity and inclusion, establishing a strong educational foundation for their involvement with the R.I.D.E. framework.

By completing the certificate series, individuals will acquire the knowledge, skills and empathy needed to navigate diverse environments, promote equity, and champion inclusive practices. Empowered with this understanding, participants will be able to actively contribute to cultivating a more inclusive environment within the University community and beyond; embodying Wake Forest commitment to inclusive excellence.

Participants must complete six core workshops to receive the certificate. Workshops can be taken in any order after completing Workshop 1: Foundations of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Both in-person and virtual workshop options are available.

Core workshops include:

• Foundations of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
• Identity Threads: Unraveling Socialization, Privilege, and Oppression
• From Unconscious Bias to Conscious Inclusion
• Cultural Fluency: Navigating Inclusive Communication
• Be the Change: Creating Sustainable Inclusive Environments on Campus
