The safety and wellbeing of the Wake Forest community is the University’s top priority. In response to a pedestrian accident over the weekend, this message is intended to provide important safety updates and information.

Wake Forest Transportation and Parking Services offers a network of free shuttles to the University community. From 7 p.m. until midnight, the On-Call Demand Shuttle is available daily during the academic year. More information is available on the Ride the Wake website.

Those who know they will be returning to campus after midnight may consider using rideshare services to avoid crossing University Parkway on foot. Students who do not feel safe traveling back to campus should contact University Police at 336-758-5911 or through the Wake Safe mobile app.

Resources on bicycle and pedestrian safety can be found on the University Police website. Whenever possible, cross streets at crosswalks or intersections, where drivers expect pedestrians. Additionally, consider traveling in groups or waiting for a peer when crossing roads. If you can, leave with the same group you arrived with for additional safety. Look for cars in all directions, including those turning left or right.
