On Monday, Jan. 15, the nation will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Each year, representatives from Wake Forest and Winston-Salem State Universities form a joint Martin Luther King Jr. programming committee and present the “Building the Dream” awards.

The award is traditionally presented to a student and a professor or administrator from both Wake Forest and Winston-Salem State University who embody the qualities that Dr. King epitomized and actively exercises these qualities in their community (on and off campus) including:

  • Leadership
  • Commitment to justice
  • Determination and resilience
  • Community engagement

To nominate a student, faculty or staff member for the “2024 Building the Dream” award, complete this brief form by Jan. 9.

The award recipients will be announced at the invitation-only ceremonial banquet on Monday, January 15.
