Distinguished University Professor Rogan Kersh headed to New York University

Rogan Kersh portraitNew York University announced today that Wake Forest Distinguished University Professor Rogan Kersh will serve as Academic Director of NYU Florence and Associate Vice Chancellor for Global Programs. Kersh previously served as associate dean of NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service, where he was a professor of public policy. He will start his new role on July 1.

“I am grateful to Dr. Kersh for his many contributions to Wake Forest,” said President Susan R. Wente. “He served his alma mater with distinction and students and faculty benefitted from his global outlook. New York University is fortunate to have him in this role.”

Kersh came to Wake Forest in 2012 to serve as Provost and professor of political science. 

As WFU Provost, Rogan led the academic portion of a $1.1 billion capital campaign, and oversaw academic program development for engineering and biomedical sciences, the heart of a 1.25-million square foot Wake Forest Innovation Quarter. He was also a key leader of the University’s successful navigation of the COVID pandemic. After 10 years of leading his alma mater in an administrative capacity, Kersh returned to full-time teaching and research in July 2022.
