Wake Forest Symphony is hosting a two-day residency with trumpeter Courtney D. Jones, an award-winning Bach performing and recording artist, on Oct. 26 and 27. All events free and open to the public.

Jones is a leading figure in contemporary performance and conducting. He is also a well-known educator. His residency at Wake Forest is part of “Paving the Way” –  an interdisciplinary concept designed to magnify underrepresented composers and musicians and provide a platform for current and continued exploration into their lives and work.

“It is truly a different way of thinking about concert curation,” said J. Aaron Hardwick, teaching professor and director of Wake Forest Symphony Orchestra. “The concert is the end-point in the series. Each activity leading up to it creates a learning opportunity that helps make the music come alive.”

Jones has performed with classical ensembles and orchestras throughout the United States and internationally and has won multiple solo awards and accolades through regional and national trumpet competitions. He also serves inner-city youth through music outreach programs.
