In anticipation of Wake Forest’s upcoming SACSCOC Reaffirmation of Accreditation in 2026, the Provost’s Office and Institutional Research are launching a new SACSCOC website where faculty, staff, and students can find information about our reaffirmation process and timely updates.

The Wake Forest SACSCOC leadership team for the 2026 reaffirmation consists of:

  • Michele Gillespie – Provost (Executive Sponsor)
  • Phil Handwerk – Assistant Provost, Office of Institutional Research and WFU’s Accreditation Liaison (Co-Chair)
  • Randall Rogan – Professor of Communication (Co-Chair)
  • Anne Hardcastle – Associate Provost for Academic Affairs
  • Emily Neese – Vice President, Finance, Strategy, and Planning
  • José Villalba – Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion and Chief Diversity Officer
  • Shea Kidd Brown – Vice President for Campus Life

Phil Handwerk and Randall Rogan will also serve as co-chairs of the SACSCOC Compliance Group and convene staff, faculty, and administrators across campus to begin planning for this important work. As we look towards the 2026 reaffirmation process, university departments and units are asked to be attentive to assessment and data collection processes this year and next, with the aim of completing two cycles of data collection to use in supporting Wake Forest’s reaffirmation report.  Please visit the website for more details on the SACSCOC Reaffirmation of Accreditation process, and be on the lookout for additional updates in the coming weeks.
