Faculty & staff parking tips for move-in, Aug. 23 & 25-27
Wake Forest will welcome a new first-year class on Wednesday, Aug. 23, when new student move-in begins at 8 a.m. Students and families will be arriving throughout move-in day beginning around 7:30 a.m.
For faculty and staff scheduled to be on campus that busy morning, the University has recommendations for navigating campus.
Arrive early if you plan to park on campus.
Plan to enter campus through the Polo Road entrance. New students and their families will likely be using the University Parkway entrance after completing their check-in at the LJVM.
Parking will also be available in the lots on either side of Long Drive (Lots Z3 and Z4), near the intersection of Long Drive and Polo Road. A shuttle bus will provide transportation to and from those lots and campus from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Avoid parking on South Campus (Lots E, F, G, H, and J) near first-year student residence halls to allow parking for students and families.
Please note University will continue to run the on-call demand service on Wednesday, Aug. 23.
The University will welcome back returning students Friday through Sunday, Aug. 25-27.
Parking for faculty and staff in the Hearn Plaza lots (Lots A, P and B) will be limited due to move-in.
Faculty and staff are encouraged to avoid Lots Q (near Magnolia and Dogwood Residence Halls), R (near Polo Road Residence Hall), and Z (near Student Apartments).
On Friday, Aug. 25, parking for faculty and staff will be available in the lots on either side of Long Drive (Lots Z3 and Z4), near the intersection of Long Drive and Polo Road. A shuttle bus will provide transportation to and from those lots and campus from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
To assist with traffic management, the University asks that departments instruct vendors not to deliver to campus until after noon on Aug. 23; vendors are asked to park only in designated parking spaces and to remove their own trash from campus. Delivery vehicles larger than a box truck should not plan to enter campus on Aug. 23 due to limited parking and increased traffic. Deliveries taking place Aug. 25-27 should expect slower travel due to limited parking and increased traffic.
The University is committed to making the move-in experience as smooth and efficient as possible for students and their families, and as convenient as possible for faculty and staff. Thank you in advance for your assistance and flexibility as we welcome the newest Demon Deacons to campus!
