Secrest Artists Series presents violinist Rachel Podger on Wednesday, March 29 and Friday, March 31 at 7:30 p.m. in Brendle Recital Hall.

Podger has established herself as a leading interpreter of Baroque and Classical music. Her appearance at Wake Forest University will be a two-concert set of the complete Bach Sonatas and Partitas for solo violin.

In addition to the concerts, Podger will conduct a masterclass with Wake Forest music students in Brendle Recital Hall on Tuesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

Wake Forest University and medical school faculty, staff and retirees receive free admission for themselves and one guest to each Secrest Artists Series performance. Register here.

“By listening to Bach first thing in the morning I’m very likely to start the day in good spirits; the clarity of the music both having an invigorating and calming effect on me,” Podger said. “Every note and expression has its rightful place and nothing ever seems too elaborate or deprived of something or too intense. The music flows with a confidence that balances our intellectual, emotional and spiritual interests.”

More information can be found on the Secrest Artist Series website. Listen to Rachel Podger here.

Tickets for the community are $5-$18. Admission is free for WFU students with ID. Seating is unassigned. Call the Secrest Artists Series box office at (336) 758-5757 for assistance.
