A message from Wake Forest University Human Resources
After a successful year-long flexible work pilot that engaged nearly 200 colleagues across campus, the University will continue into a second-year pilot through summer 2023.
Throughout the initial yearlong pilot, the University assessed several indicators, including engagement and productivity, and gathered feedback from participating managers and staff. This feedback informed two key refinements for the second year. First, flexible work categories and eligibility criteria have been clarified based on essential job functions and team needs. Second, the planning process between employees and managers has been streamlined to include an abbreviated digital proposal form with an accompanying employee-manager planning guide.
Staff are invited to view the Flexible Work website, which outlines flexible work categories and eligibility criteria and includes links to complete the digital proposal form and view the Pilot 2.0 Planning Guide resource.
Throughout the next year, the University will continue to evaluate best practices and collect data on the pilot’s impact on recruitment, productivity, employee engagement and retention. Analysis of the second-year pilot will also inform the University’s space use planning and the development and implementation of a new Flexible Work policy.
All employees who are not working fully on-site, including those who participated in the year-one pilot, will submit the required digital proposal form and participate in upcoming assessments. Those with questions about flexible work eligibility are encouraged to speak with their supervisors. Additional questions can be directed to Human Resources at askHR@wfu.edu.
