Space Utilization Study Faculty Forums with SmithGroup on April 18

Please join your colleagues for an in-person forum Monday, April 18, which will advance ongoing and critical conversations about Reynolda campus space utilization.

In October, Wake Forest University announced it would conduct a campus space utilization study in partnership with the firm, SmithGroup. SmithGroup will host three in-person faculty forums on Monday, April 18, at 9 a.m., 12 p.m., and 4 p.m. in the Z. Smith Reynolds Library Auditorium (ZSR 404). All WFU faculty are invited to participate in a forum that works best for their schedule during this busy time of the semester. Staff who teach are also strongly encouraged to participate in one of the three forums.

The forums have two goals. First, the SmithGroup team will provide updates on the space utilization study. Second, the forums serve as an invitation to provide more campus context specific to our critical and evolving pedagogical, creative, advising, and research space needs in support of our academic mission; the bulk of these forums will be devoted to dialogue and input.

The space utilization study will quantify current and future space needs as well as identify potential opportunities to leverage institutional real estate (e.g., 2400 Reynolda, University Corporate Center), in order to address space needs on Reynolda campus. SmithGroup has spent this academic year listening, data collecting, and analyzing Wake Forest University space information, including via a campus-wide survey distributed to students, faculty, and staff.

At the study’s conclusion, SmithGroup will provide university administration with space scenarios and recommendations.

No hybrid option will be available for the April 18 forums.
