Service of Remembrance for Professor of Counseling Samuel T. Gladding

Sam GladdingThe service of remembrance for Samuel T. Gladding, professor of counseling, will be held on Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in Wait Chapel. Wake Forest students, faculty, staff and others are invited.

Professor Gladding died in December after an illness.

The University’s indoor event protocols will be followed. Face masks will be required of all attendees. A Wake Forest ID will be accepted as proof of vaccination/booster or a negative test for current students, faculty and staff.

Reserved seating will be available for students, faculty and staff of the Department of Counseling; members of Alpha Phi Omega (APO) service fraternity; and residents of South Residence Hall (where Professor Gladding was a faculty fellow).

Gladding joined Wake Forest in 1990 as professor of counseling and an assistant to the president for special projects, serving the late President Thomas K. Hearn Jr. from 1990 to 1997. From 1997 to 2007, he was an associate provost. He chaired the Department of Counseling for many years.
