Each year, the Chaplain’s Office assists families that don’t have extra funds by providing Thanksgiving dinner and a children’s gift or two under the tree. Last year, with the generosity of individuals and departments across the Reynolda Campus, more than 125 single mothers, single fathers, families and grandparents who care for grandchildren received assistance with both Thanksgiving meals and Christmas.

These families don’t ask for anything extravagant. For so many of us, the holidays are a time to be with our families and celebrate, but for the under-resourced in our community, it can be a stressful time trying to provide for the basic needs of their families, let alone things for the holidays.

If you or your department would like to help a family, please give Visa, Walmart or Food Lion gift cards that the Chaplain’s Office can use. Please email mcgill@wfu.edu for information. You may also give a donation to the Chaplain’s Emergency Fund.

Donations for this outreach need to be in the Chaplain’s Office no later than Friday, Nov. 12, and distributions will occur on November 22. Thank you for your consideration!

NOTE: Please ask the vendor to print a separate activation receipt for each gift card, tape it to the card, and write the amount on the card.
