Campus Dialogues: Guiding Principles on Naming

The Office of Diversity and Inclusion is moderating institutional efforts to gather names of individuals, themes, and concepts that are not currently honored or remembered as fully as possible on campus. The first event will focus on the “Guiding Principles on Naming” and will be held Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 5:15 p.m. in Farrell Hall’s Broyhill Auditorium. The event is open to faculty, staff, students and alumni.

The Principles were developed last year by the Advisory Committee on Naming, which was co-chaired by School of Divinity Dean Jonathan Walton. Please join Dean Walton and Vice President José Villalba as they discuss the Guiding Principles in relation to naming initiatives on our campus.

The event will take place in person, but a virtual option is available for those who would prefer to engage in that manner. Click the “Join Stream” button here to register.
