COVID-19 Update: Intent to Require Vaccination for Students

Dear Wake Forest faculty and staff,

Thank you for your diligent work as we approach the end of a challenging semester.

Later today, we will send the email below to all students and all undergraduate parents and families to share current plans about vaccination requirements for the Fall 2021 semester. You will note that we intend to require vaccinations for all students in all programs on all campuses, subject to medical and religious exemptions in certain circumstances.

Our support continues for international students, many of whom face challenges related to vaccinations in advance of the fall term. What we know today is that vaccine opportunities vary widely from country to country, and we expect matters to evolve throughout the coming months. The International Students and Scholars team is communicating directly with international students to provide updates and offer support, which will continue throughout the summer.

At this time, the University is not requiring the vaccine for faculty and staff but strongly encourages all members of our community to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as possible. Information about vaccine providers in our community is available on the Our Way Forward website.

Your dedication to the mission of Wake Forest and its Pro Humanitate principles has continued to be an inspiration to each of us.

Sincerely,

Nathan O. Hatch
