Vice President for Finance leaves to take new position

Janet Williams, vice president for finance, has accepted a position as vice president for finance and administration at Elon University, beginning next month.

Williams came to Wake Forest in 2018 and has managed the finance and accounting areas of the University. At Elon, her responsibilities will expand beyond finance and accounting to include oversight of human resources, physical plant, information technology, campus safety and police, auxiliary services, administrative services, internal audit and planning, design and construction.

“I am grateful for the significant ways Janet has contributed to the University, both as a professional leader and as a very engaged member of the Wake Forest community,” Milam said. “Janet provided strong leadership, particularly in the areas of enterprise risk management, procurement, and campus financial services.”

In addition to her job responsibilities, she has also been involved with students, co-leading the Community-Based Global Learning Program in Ecuador, which created local partnerships and provided learning opportunities for first-generation students.

“Janet’s always thoughtful, always collegial engagement across so many areas—I see her daily on Zoom in one meeting after another—was invaluable to Wake Forest,” said Provost Rogan Kersh. “Her ability to integrate knowledge of University risks and financial practices strengthened every part of the University.”

Williams said: “It has been my pleasure to be part of the Finance and Administration division at Wake Forest University, working on complex and engaging projects and collaborating across campus. I am very proud of the work the talented and committed Financial Services team has been able to accomplish in just under three years. ”
