Reduced work schedules extended

Although the University is unable to provide definitive long-term answers about reduced work schedules and unemployment at this time, Wake Forest will continue to offer this option into September. As retention credit eligibility and other unit-by-unit organizational needs change, individuals working reduced hours should speak with their managers about pursuing opportunities to support colleagues who may be over-extended or apply for a part-time COVID Opportunity. Human resources shared the COVID Opportunities access password in their August 28 email to faculty and staff. If all other options are exhausted, colleagues may continue reduced work schedules and log COVID retention credit hours through September.

The University will subsidize NC unemployment benefits for furloughed employees through the pay cycle ending September 18.

COVID Opportunities

Human resources has developed a process to redeploy the Wake Forest talent we already have by matching current exempt and non-exempt staff on furlough or working a reduced schedule with departments who have a specific COVID-related business need.

  • Managers who have a COVID-related and temporary business need should complete the Manager Request Form.
  • Staff members on furlough or working reduced hours who are interested in a COVID Opportunity should complete the Internal Applicant Form.

WFU human resources will continue to answer questions submitted through this form in email updates and centralized FAQs.
