Locklair’s ‘Sonata for Flute and Harp’ to premiere June 19

Dan Locklair’s “Sonata for Flute and Harp” will be premiered June 19 by flutist Debra Reuter-Pivetta and harpist Jacquelyn Bartlett as part of the American Harp Society Summer Institute 2019. Locklair is a professor of music and composer-in-residence at Wake Forest University.

Sonata for Flute & Harp is the result of a 2018 commission by the North Carolina Harp Ensemble for Jacquelyn Bartlett and Debra Reuter-Pivetta in celebration of the 2019 American Harp Society, Inc. Summer Institute. Composed during summer 2018, Sonata for Flute & Harp is in three movements and is approximately twelve minutes in length, the composer writes, “It is warmly dedicated to Ms. Bartlett and Ms. Reuter-Pivetta.” The piece was published by Subito Music.
