This crime alert was e-mailed to students, faculty and staff July 26 by Wake Forest Communications and External Relations:

The Winston-Salem Police Department is investigating a possible assault that occurred near the University Parkway gatehouse this morning.

Just after 9:30 a.m., a woman walked onto campus from the University Parkway entrance when a 2014 blue, four-door Ford Fiesta followed her and pulled up next to her. A man driving the car appeared to force the woman into the driver’s seat with him in the car. They drove off campus headed south on University Parkway.

A University employee who witnessed the incident tried to follow the car down University Parkway and saw it turn left onto Reynolds Boulevard and past the University Corporate Center before it drove out of sight.

The Winston-Salem Police Department is searching for a 2014 blue, four-door Ford Fiesta with the N.C. license plate EMS-7938.

Authorities ask that anyone with information contact the Winston-Salem Police Department at 336-773-7700 or CrimeStoppers at 336-727-2800.

Investigators have identified the woman and, at this point, there is no known connection between her and Wake Forest University. Investigators believe the two individuals are known to each other.

This Timely Notice is sent in compliance with the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998.
