Parking Lot E to be closed temporarily for improvements

A guest post from the University’s Parking and Transportation Office:

Improvements to Parking Lot E are scheduled to begin soon, requiring the temporary closing of the lot, which is situated behind Z. Smith Reynolds Library.

The lot closed on July 27 for renovation that will improve safety, access and traffic flow while also adding 26 spaces for staff and faculty.  The number of spaces will increase from 49 to 75. The lot will be re-opened before students arrive in August.

Circulation in the lot will be improved by eliminating multiple entries and creating a single entry and exit for the lot near the stop sign at the intersection of Gulley Drive and Jasper Memory Lane.  Any trees affected by the improvements to Lot E will be moved to another location or replaced.

Parking options for faculty and staff during this closure include Lot J, which will have ample parking during this time period.  Lot J is located behind residence halls South and Collins.

Meanwhile, construction begins on a new residence hall for first-year students at former Lot H, located at the intersection of Jasper Memory Lane and Wingate Road.  Additional information will be communicated by the Parking and Transportation Office by the first of August, explaining what steps are being implemented to offset construction’s impact to parking on our campus and community members.

We appreciate your patience.
