Faculty and staff children invited to MLK ‘Read-In’

MLKday.100x100Faculty and staff are invited to register their children ages 4-10 to participate in the 5th Annual MLK Read-In. The event will be held in Benson University Center, Room 401 on Saturday, Jan. 18th from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Children will be assigned a reading buddy who will serve as their guide as they visit a variety of “service stations.” Each child will be given at least one donated age-appropriate book and one new civil-rights-themed book.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate Dr. King’s life and promote his message about civil rights, literacy and the importance of community service. The MLK Read-In is organized by the following partners: Wake Forest University, Winston-Salem State University, Girl Talk Triad Chapter and HandsOn Northwest North Carolina.
