Dan Locklair was Composer-in-Residence for the 2011 Carolina Chamber Music Festival in New Bern, N.C, on Sept. 11-17. His Dreamsteps (A Dance Suite for Flute, Viola and Harp) was performed on Sept. 17 by the New York City-based Larkspur Trio, and Dr. Locklair was featured in a pre-concert talk.
Compositions by Locklair were featured on Sept. 11 in observance of the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. Included were performances of his The Aeolian Sonata (an organ work written in 2002 as a memorial to this tragedy) by organist Haig Mardirosian at The University of Tampa and his choral work, Remembrance, for double choir, trumpet and organ at a 9/11 commemorative service of Winston-Salem area Episcopal churches led by Bishop Michael J. Curry at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Winston-Salem. John Cummins was the conductor and Anita Cirba was on trumpet.
