Meet Kristy Eanes, Residence Life and Housing

With 3,300 undergraduates moving back onto campus, it’s an especially busy time for Kristy Eanes, a.k.a., the housing lady. As administrative coordinator for assignments in Residence Life and Housing, she oversees all on-campus room assignments.

What do you do?

I am responsible for making all on-campus assignments for undergraduate students: Fall assignments, spring assignments and summer school assignments, and the input of meal plans. I talk with students and parents about housing options, roommate conflicts and room changes.

How do you make room assignments?

Freshman assignments are made over the summer and students are paired based on the application they complete in May.  Upper-class students get to select their housing in April and select who and where they would like to live on campus based on priority numbers. The busiest time is usually in July, November and December and April during the Room Selection Process.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

Working with the students and parents. I get to meet and talk with students and parents from all walks of life.

What’s your dream job?

Professional chef on the Food Network, kind of like Paula Dean. Or the voice of an animated character in a Disney movie.

Where did you grow up?

I grew up in Hickory, NC.  I moved around a bit because of my dad’s employment.  I attended four different high schools, three in one year.

How did you end up at Wake Forest?

I was working retail as a front-end manager.  I wanted something more so I started shopping around for a new position and came across the position as staff assistant in RL&H seven years ago and have been here ever since.

What do you do when you’re not working?

Spend time with my family, cooking, yard work and scrapbooking.

Family?

Married for six years, two children: 19-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter.
