Influenza-like illness impacting campus

The Health Service has been seeing high numbers of students with an influenza-like illness. Testing does not show actual influenza, but the illness looks very similar to influenza.

Symptoms include high fevers (101-103.5), fatigue, sore throat, cough, body aches, headaches. These symptoms are lasting about 5-7 days and students with these symptoms are incapable of doing any academic work. In addition, our infectious disease consultant at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center has recommended that students (and faculty/staff) with these symptoms not go to class (because of the contagious nature of this illness) until they have had no fever for 24 hours.
