ZSR Library Associate Dean Wanda Brown wins award

20738597059_477033abed_zCongratulations to ZSR Library Associate Dean Wanda Brown, who was recently presented the Demco/Black Caucus 2015 Award for Excellence in Librarianship.

This is an annual award of a framed print and a cash award made possible by a grant from DEMCO, Inc. of Madison, Wisconsin, and presented to the librarian who has made significant contributions to promoting the status of African Americans in the library profession. Specific contributions may include, but are not limited to, research and scholarship, recruitment, professional development, planning or implementation of programs, or advocacy (public relations).

ZSR faculty were recently elected to professional organization offices for terms starting July 1, 2014:

Wanda Brown (Associate Dean): Chair-Elect of the Human Resources Section of the Library Leadership and Management Association of the American Library Association (LLAMA-HRS); Board of Trustees of LYRASIS.

Thomas Dowling (Director of Technologies): Vice President/President-Elect of the Library Information and Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).

Sarah Jeong (Science Librarian): Secretary of the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA).

Brown honored by UNCG

Wanda BrownWanda Brown, an associate dean at Z. Smith Reynolds Library, has been selected as a recipient of the 2013-2014 Outstanding Achievement Alumni Award from the UNC-Greensboro School of Education. This honor is awarded to School of Education alumni earning state, national or international distinction in their career.
