Wellbeing Center receives Outstanding Sports Facility Award

Wake Forest Wellbeing Center

This is a guest post from Campus Recreation:

At the recent NIRSA annual conference in Boston, the Wake Forest Wellbeing Center received an Outstanding Sports Facility Award from the association.

NIRSA is the professional association for collegiate fitness, recreation, and wellbeing. The award recognizes “facilities that demonstrate excellence in a number of critical areas, including architectural design, functionality, and how well the facility meets its intended purpose. Winning facilities exemplify the institution’s commitment to providing the higher education experience desired and valued by students.”

The Wellbeing Center opened in stages in recent years as the historic Reynolds Gym, which opened in 1956, underwent a comprehensive renovation that included the addition of the adjacent Sutton Center. The entire center was open by spring 2018.  It consists of 180,000 square feet, making it the second largest building on campus.

Leadership gifts through the Wake Will Lead campaign helped make the Reynolds Gym transformation project possible.

Detailed information about the award and project can be found on the website of the architectural firm, RDG.

More information about NIRSA can be found here.
