University departments invited to participate in Family Weekend 2018

This is a guest post from the Family Weekend Committee:

Family Weekend is an annual tradition, providing over 1,000 Wake Forest University families an opportunity to visit students, meet faculty, staff and other families, and connect with our campus in a deeper way. Some parents attend year after year, however, the majority will be relatively new to campus, happy to return to Winston Salem to see how their First Year student is adjusting to university life.

Each fall, the Family Weekend Committee coordinates a three-day schedule of activities for families.  The dates for Family Weekend 2018 will be Sept. 28-30.

University departments are invited to host workshops, tours, lectures and/or open houses for Family Weekend 2018, particularly on Friday, Sept. 28, when most families arrive on campus.  This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with students and their families around a variety of topics. Survey data has shown that parents are eager for interaction with faculty and academic departments. They often leave the weekend feeling that they’ve learned more about the campus experience and the wide array of possibilities available to their student.

Online registration for families will begin on July 10, 2018. If your department is interested in hosting a Family Weekend event, please contact Betsy Adams (mailto:adamseh@wfu.edu) by July 1, 2018 to be added to the schedule.
