Stanton K. Tefft

We are saddened to announce that Stanton K. Tefft, professor emeritus of anthropology, died June 9.

Information about a service for Dr. Tefft is not available at this time. When a service is announced by his family, information will be provided on the Inside WFU web site.  His family also plans for an obituary to appear soon in the Winston-Salem Journal.

Dr. Tefft was a cultural anthropologist who joined Wake Forest’s anthropology faculty in 1964.  He retired in 2000. Dr. Tefft was known in the Triad for working closely with the Montagnard community to help them resettle in this region.  Also known as the Degar people, they are indigenous to the Central Highlands of Vietnam.

We grieve Dr. Tefft’s death and extend our condolences to his family and friends, as well as those at Wake Forest who had the opportunity to know him.
