SAC meeting to feature two speakers: José Villalba and Eric Aft

The Staff Advisory Council (SAC) meeting on Dec. 14 will feature two guest speakers.

Interim Chief Diversity Officer José Villalba will speak about the University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion.  Eric Aft, chief operating officer of the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, will speak about the organization.

The meeting, which is open to University staff, will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. in Benson University Center, Room 401 B/D.

As 2017 nears an end, the SAC is making two requests:

–University community members are asked to consider donating to the Chaplain’s Emergency Fund at Wake Forest. Recently, Chaplain Tim Auman has been making a special effort to call attention to the fund and the needs it meets at Wake Forest, including during the holidays.

–Staff members are asked to consider a donation to the University PTO Donation fund.

“As we near the end of the calendar year, please take this opportunity to look at your PTO balance in NovaTime. If you do not feel like you will be able to use all of your PTO, please consider donating some of your time to someone who may need it,” said SAC Vice President Jen Abbinett. “Wake Forest offers this as an option for colleagues who experience prolonged medical conditions that result in them being placed on qualifying medical leave. This would be a wonderful alternative to losing it.”

To donate, she explained, it is necessary to complete a PTO Donor Form and send it to Donne Sides in Human Resources.

“If you know of someone who needs it, please feel free to designate their name; however, please know that they must meet the eligibility requirements and have an Application for Shared PTO on file to receive donations. If you are not aware of someone specific you would like to help, HR will select someone for you,” Abbinett added.
