Reward offered regarding hit-and-run incident

The University Police Department is offering a reward for information that results in identifying the vehicle, driver or passengers involved in the December 8 hit-and-run incident on campus that injured Collen Brehm, an Aramark Campus Dining Services employee.

A light-colored vehicle struck Brehm as she attempted to walk across Wake Forest Road near Wait Chapel. A witness told police that a driver
and passengers were in the car, which initially slowed and then drove away after hitting Brehm. At least one passenger was female, a witness told investigators.

The unidentified vehicle had pulled out of Parking Lot Q and turned onto Wake Forest Road when it hit Brehm. Afterward, the vehicle was driven on Wake Forest Road toward the campus’s University Parkway entrance.

Brehm was released from a hospital following treatment for her injuries.

Initially, University Police announced the vehicle appeared to be a white SUV, but investigators now are generally describing it as light colored and shaped similar to an SUV.

Information about the case may be called into University Police at 911 from a campus phone and 336-758-5911 from a cell phone. A person may also use University Police’s Silent Witness web site at http://www.wfu.edu/police/form-silent-witness.php. In order to receive the reward, the caller must provide information on how they may be contacted.

Police continue hit-and-run investigation

The University Police Department is continuing to investigate the hit-and-run incident that occurred on the Reynolda Campus Thursday night, Dec. 8.

Police are seeking assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver involved.

At 6:55 p.m., Collen Brehm, an employee of Aramark Campus Dining Services at Wake Forest, was walking across Wake Forest Road, next to Wait Chapel, from Lot P toward Lot Q. A white vehicle struck her, carrying her about 30 feet. Witnesses reported seeing people in the vehicle, which did not stop after striking Brehm.

University Police have received information since the accident and have identified a suspect. At this time, investigators request that those who sent information through the Silent Witness system send additional details to help with the arrest and conviction of the driver.

In North Carolina, witnesses who fail to report such acts can be charged as an accomplice to the crime and can face the same punishment as the driver who left an injured person without medical assistance.

University Police request that they be contacted by anyone with information who may assist in the investigation. To provide information to police, call 911 from a campus phone or 336-758-5911 from a cell phone.
