Join the dialogue on Chick-fil-A

Please join the Committee for Dialogue on Chick-fil-A for a second campus-wide event to discuss the presence of Chick-fil-A on our campus and its implications for creating an inclusive community. The event will take place on Monday, Feb. 18, from 5-6:30 p.m. in the Magnolia Room of Reynolda Hall.

Provost Rogan Kersh will host this event, and he will provide an overview of the various arguments that have been heard to date regarding the Chick-fil-A controversy. Speakers representing both the LGBTQ community and the Christian community will lead us in discussion, and model what it means to sit at a table together and share our views as human beings, engaged in real, respectful, civil dialogue.

All members of the campus community are invited to participate.

Chick-fil-A dialogue continues

The following message is sent on behalf of the Chick-fil-A Campus Dialogue Committee:

To our campus community,

We are so grateful to all of you who took the time out of your busy schedules on Monday to attend our first discussion about Chick-fil-A and share your very thoughtful feedback and comments. Most important, we were so impressed by the civility and respect with which these difficult issues were discussed, and we know you will bring this same willingness to learn from, listen to, and respect one another as you continue these conversations across campus.

As we emphasized Monday, the purpose of Monday’s gathering was to begin a discussion on campus, and we want to help facilitate a range of opportunities to continue the conversation. Please remember that no decisions have been made by the administration, and there is no pre-determined outcome. We want to continue to hear from and learn from all of you. To that end, we are taking the following steps: Read more

Advisory committees will be formed

A message from President Nathan Hatch:

Dear Wake Forest Community,

The fall semester is always an exciting and transformational time at Wake Forest. Along with new faces, new opportunities seem to present themselves and enrich our community everyday.

In the coming weeks, we will begin three important discussions on campus through a series of advisory committees. These committees will include a combination of students, faculty and staff to ensure that different constituencies at Wake Forest have their voices heard in a meaningful, productive and collaborative way. The following is a summary of each advisory committee: Read more
