The School of Law has launched “Awaken: The Creative Journal of Contemporary Bioethics,” which is dedicated to exploring and understanding the field of bioethics through publication of creative, fictionalized short stories.

The journal website was made available to the public on Sept. 20 under the direction of Professor of Legal Writing Christine Nero Coughlin.

Supported by the Wake Forest University Center for Bioethics, Health & Society, the journal is open to submissions from Wake Forest students, faculty and staff, as well as others.   Information concerning publication opportunities is available here.

The School of Law announced “Awaken” this week on the school’s website.

A message from Vice President Penny Rue and Title IX Coordinator Tanya Jachimiak

This message was emailed to students, faculty and staff on Sept. 22 on behalf of Vice President Penny Rue and Title IX Coordinator Tanya Jachimiak by Communications and External Relations:

Wake Forest University is carefully reviewing the ‘interim guidance’ on campus sexual misconduct released by the Department of Education today. Our student sexual misconduct policy remains in place as we study the Q&A and await formal guidance following the rulemaking process.

The Division of Campus Life and Title IX Office invite all students, faculty and staff to attend a Title IX forum on Wednesday, October 4, at 5:15 p.m. in Annenburg Forum.

The safety and wellbeing of our campus community is our highest priority. As such, our commitment to preventing and responding to campus sexual assault remains unwavering.

Sincerely,

Penny Rue
Vice President for Campus Life

Tanya Jachimiak
Title IX Coordinator

Danny Manning Women's Basketball Clinic to be held Oct. 1

This is a guest post from the Department of Athletics:

The Wake Forest basketball program invites women from across the Triad to the 4th Annual Danny Manning Women’s Basketball Clinic coming to the LJVM Coliseum Sunday, Oct. 1. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and the clinic is great for those who are die-hard fans or those who just want to learn more about the game. Proceeds from the clinic benefit the Wake Forest Baptist Health Brenner Children’s Hospital and holiday shopping for area families in need.

Participants will have the opportunity to mix and mingle with wives of the Demon Deacons coaching staff, receive a gift bag and have the opportunity to win door prizes.

On the hoops side, head coach Danny Manning will address the clinic, everyone will participate in on-court drills learning the basics of offensive and defensive sets as well as an opportunity to be introduced on the floor in a similar fashion to how the Deacs take the court for contests – complete with a motorcycle entrance!

Light hors d’oeuvres will be served at the conclusion of the clinic and a cash bar is available. There is also plenty of opportunities for photos with the coaches, the Deacon and the motorcycle.

It is recommended that all participants dress casually with athletic shirts, shorts and sneakers.
