Focus groups scheduled for discussion of learning management systems

This is a guest post from the Teaching & Learning Collaborative:

Information Systems, the Learning Management System (LMS) Initiative Team, and the Teaching and Learning Collaborative are working together, starting this Fall, to review state of the LMSs on the market and how well our current LMS (Sakai) is meeting our needs. The process involves more than a mere technical evaluation or tools comparison. Other considerations will include faculty needs, cost, infrastructure, and value delivered or added. This investigation does not reflect any dissatisfaction with Sakai, nor should it be considered a sign that Wake Forest intends to stop using, supporting, or expanding the platform. Rather, it is standard business practice to periodically review vendor partnerships, to consider other options or opportunities, or to reinvest in our existing system.

As a first step in that process, we are holding Focus Groups of LMS users and stakeholders. There will be participation opportunities for faculty, staff, and students in the second and third weeks of November. If you are interested in participating, please sign up on this page: https://is.wfu.edu/academic-tech/lms-focus-groups/. We will be taking the first ten (10) volunteers for each group, as well as two (2) alternates. Each participant will receive a $5 Starbucks gift card and have their name entered in a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift certificate. Refreshments will be provided.
