ZSR faculty were recently elected to professional organization offices for terms starting July 1, 2014:
Wanda Brown (Associate Dean): Chair-Elect of the Human Resources Section of the Library Leadership and Management Association of the American Library Association (LLAMA-HRS); Board of Trustees of LYRASIS.
Thomas Dowling (Director of Technologies): Vice President/President-Elect of the Library Information and Technology Association (LITA), a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
Sarah Jeong (Science Librarian): Secretary of the Asian/Pacific American Librarians Association (APALA).

Champions of Change winners announced on Earth Day
Wake Forest’s celebration of Earth Day this year included the announcement of Champions of Change award winners. This is the first year of the program, which recognizes the creativity and innovation of individuals and teams who work to improve sustainability on campus. Provost Rogan Kersh and Sr. VP/CFO Hof Milam presented the awards.

Faculty, staff hit the bricks

Faculty and staff helped the Wake Forest community “Hit the Bricks” hard this year, joining with students to run nearly 23,000 laps around Hearn Plaza and to raise close to $30,000 for cancer research and the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund.

“Hit the Bricks” is part of a series of student-run events and activities to honor the former Chicago Bears running back, Brian Piccolo, who attended Wake Forest in the 1960s. The 1971 film, “Brian’s Song,” was based on the real-life relationship between teammates Brian Piccolo and Gale Sayers and the bond established when Piccolo discovers he is dying of cancer at the age of 26.
