A message from President Hatch regarding Hurricane Harvey
President Hatch e-mailed this message to students, faculty and staff on Aug. 26:
Dear Wake Forest Students, Faculty and Staff,
Wake Forest University offers its support to students, alumni, parents, faculty and staff who have loved ones in the areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.
With many of our students returning to campus this weekend, we are mindful that we have members of the Wake Forest community who are either coming from Texas and Louisiana or have loved ones along the Gulf Coast.
We encourage you to contact the following resources, should the need arise:
- The Office of the Dean of Students, University Counseling Center, Office of the Chaplain and resident advisers are available to listen to students who need to speak with someone here.
- Students experiencing issues returning to campus prior to the start of classes should contact their respective Dean’s office.
- Parents are encouraged to contact the Office of Family Engagement should the University need to be aware of any extraordinary circumstances affecting their students.
- And, as always, our Office of Alumni Engagement is here to assist with the needs of Wake Forest graduates.
The University will continue to monitor the news about Harvey’s impact and determine what specifically we can do to help students here as well as the greater Wake Forest family.

Office of Parent Programs now called Family Engagement
Wake Forest’s Office of Parent Programs announced, recently, that it has adopted a new name. Starting now, it is called the Office of Family Engagement.
According to the office, the change was made to reflect the broad scope of its “work in engaging families in life at Wake Forest—through communications, programs such as our summer New Student Receptions, serving as a resource for the parent and family constituency, fundraising, and more.”
On Aug. 26, the office will have a revamped and redesigned Parents and Families website at http://parents.wfu.edu.
The Office of Family Engagement also has Facebook (Wake Forest Parents and Families) and Twitter accounts (@WFUParents).
The office is led by Minta McNally, associate vice president and executive director. Other staff include Betsy Chapman, director of family communications and volunteer management; Brad McIlwain, director of family giving; and Jen Bucher, administrative coordinator.
