What is changing?

  • WFUvisitor sponsor portal will have an upgraded look and feel. The Web address will remain the same: https://netguest.wfu.edu/
  • After 9 p.m. on May 20, a new service at https://mydevices.wfu.edu/ will allow users to connect devices to WFUvisitor that were not able to connect prior to the upgrade. News team presents about 'Commencement Speaker Drama'

prsa.300x175On April 16, Katie Neal (’03) and Cheryl Walker (’88) presented at the national Public Relations Society of America’s (PRSA) Counselors to Higher Education Senior Summit in Washington, D.C.

Their presentation, “Commencement Speaker Drama? Getting It Right in the National Spotlight,” shared best practices from the media frenzy that descended upon Wake Forest’s 2014 commencement ceremony when speaker Jill Abramson was abruptly fired as Executive Editor of the New York Times.

As they reflected upon the five-day span between her firing and her commencement speech, Neal and Walker credited offices and partners across campus – including University Events, Parking and Transportation, Facilities and Campus Services, Information Systems, Aramark and University Police – with their team’s ability to accommodate a ten-fold increase in media attendance and capitalize on the national spotlight shining upon Wake Forest.

Faculty and staff data protection

computer.300x175
Beginning April 1, the University will begin managing encryption with Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring (MBAM) on University desktop computers and laptop computers used by faculty and staff.

MBAM protects sensitive computer data in the event that a computer is lost or stolen and improves compliance with FERPA and other security best practices. At this time, MBAM will only manage Microsoft Windows computers. Apple products will not be managed by this system.

You will notice no change on computers already encrypted with BitLocker. If your computer is not yet encrypted, your computer will automatically encrypt as part of this transition and you may see a dialog box titled BitLocker Drive Encryption. Learn more about the use of MBAM on the MBAM Bitlocker Key Recovery Web page.

If you do not create a backup of your data on a regular basis, Information Systems suggest that you do so before April 1. Use our Backup Options webpage to assist you.

If you have questions concerning this message or need assistance, please contact Information Systems at help@wfu.edu or 336-758-4357 (HELP).
