Reminder: Flu shot documentation due Dec. 15

As a reminder, this year’s new Mandatory Influenza Vaccine Policy requires all faculty and staff to submit documentation of receiving a flu shot by Tuesday, Dec. 15. Faculty and staff may request a medical, religious or off-site exemption by completing the Influenza Vaccine Exemption Request Form.

Flu shot documentation should be emailed to Whitney Berry (wberry@wakehealth.edu) or dropped off at the Faculty and Staff Clinic (743.223.4217) located at 2430A Reynolda Road, Monday through Friday, between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.

Flu shot documentation due Dec. 15

In accordance with the University’s Mandatory Influenza Vaccine Policy, all faculty and staff are required to either submit documentation of receiving a flu shot or a request for a medical, Bell tower of Wait Chapel above fall leavesreligious or off-site exemption by Dec. 15.

Affiliate partner compliance

To help promote the health and wellbeing of all those living and working within our campus community, the University has worked to ensure that affiliate partner colleagues maintain compliance with important safety policies and guidelines, have access to COVID-19 testing and health care if they become ill, and are seamlessly incorporated into the University’s contact tracing and space cleaning process.

Today's flu shot clinic moved to Graylyn Management House

Due to the potential for inclement weather, today’s flu shot clinic from 1 – 4:30 p.m. has been moved indoors at the Graylyn Management House. This clinic is free to all faculty, staff and retirees. Spouses and dependent children (8 years and older) who Student with yellow rain boots standing on Wake Forest seal are enrolled in the University’s BlueCross BlueShield medical plan are also eligible.

This will be the final WFU-sponsored flu shot clinic of the calendar year. As a reminder, the Mandatory Influenza Vaccine Policy requires all faculty, staff and students receive a flu shot and submit documentation by December 15, 2020. Faculty and staff may request a medical, religious or off-site exemption from the policy by completing the Influenza Vaccine Exemption Request Form.

Additional flu shot clinics: Nov. 9 and 11

The University will offer two additional drive-through flu shot clinics at the LJVM Coliseum on: Ironwork arch and trees backlit by sun

  • Monday, Nov. 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 1 to 4:30 p.m.

The flu shot clinics are free for all faculty, staff, and retirees. Spouses and dependent children (8 years and older) enrolled in the University’s BlueCross BlueShield medical plan are also eligible.

Election wellbeing resources

In a message to campus last week, President Hatch remarked, “In the coming days, as we close out this election and find our way forward as a nation and as a community, I ask that you take intentional care of one another.” We encourage colleagues to take advantage of these Show Humanitate and Deacs Decide election-related wellbeing resources.

Faculty and staff may also contact the Employee Assistance Program at 336.716.5493 for additional support and counseling services.

Working caregivers support group

The Women’s Center and Professional Development Center invite caregivers of all gender identities to join a judgment-free online space to share challenges and offer peer support and resources to one another. The next meeting is Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m.

Operating status: Remaining in Orange until Nov. 12

ICYMI: In an effort to sustain the downward trend in COVID-19 cases, Wake Forest will remain in Orange Status with hopes of returning to Yellow Status on Nov. 12.

Updates from HR: Benefits enrollment, inclusive hiring support, voting

Annual Benefits Enrollment will open in Workday on Monday, Oct. 19 and run through Saturday, Oct. 31, for benefits effective Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2021. Faculty and staff must act to enroll if changing benefit elections, adding or removing a dependent(s) or planning to enroll or re-enroll in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA).

Inclusive search and selection strategies

In response to President Hatch’s charge to address bias and equity in the hiring process, the Professional Development Center (PDC) is now offering online modules and virtual labs to assist with an inclusive search and selection process for faculty and staff positions.

Administrative leave for voting

Colleagues who plan to vote in the upcoming election are encouraged to take advantage of early voting, beginning Oct. 15. Department leaders may grant time away from work for staff to vote and will find details in the Administrative Leave and Release Time policy.

Faculty and staff are also invited to join a virtual conversation with Wake Washington for “Will My Vote Count? Securing the 2020 Election” on Wednesday, Oct. 21, from 1-2 p.m.
