Gladding selected for U.S. Army ROTC National Hall of Fame

Wake Forest University hosts the conference, College of the Overwhelmed, part of the Voices of Our Time series, in Brendle Recital Hall on Monday, April 7, 2008. Samuel T. Gladding, chair and professor in the Department of Counseling at Wake Forest, moderates the discussion forum.

Professor of Counseling Sam Gladding has been selected for induction into the 2016 inaugural class of the U.S. Army ROTC National Hall of Fame.

Gladding, a member of the Class of 1967 at Wake Forest, participated in the University’s Army ROTC program.  At Wake Forest, he was inducted into the National College Military Honor Society of Scabbard and Blade and was recognized for being among the top students in the University’s ROTC program.

According to the Department of the Army, the Hall of Fame induction is awarded to alumni “whose character and distinguished service epitomizes the qualities Army ROTC embodies.”

A June 10 induction ceremony at Fort Knox, Ky., will coincide with Army ROTC’s Centennial Commemoration Ceremony.  Gladding plans to attend the ceremonies.

Gladding received bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Wake Forest, in addition to receiving a master’s degree at Yale University and a doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  He joined Wake Forest’s faculty in 1990 and has also served in administrative positions, including associate provost and assistant to the president for special projects.
