Champions of Change award winners announced

On April 9, the Office of Sustainability hosted the 11th annual Champions of Change Campus Sustainability Awards. Each year at the awards ceremony, students, faculty and staff who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to campus sustainability are honored across five categories. This year’s celebration honored 12 award winners and numerous nominees whose commitments to sustainability were exemplified through efforts like energy-saving LED light conversions of athletic venues, stewardship of our campus trees, commitment to environmental justice principles and dialogue, dedication to engaged and experiential learning, right-sizing the Wake Line shuttle fleet and more.

Retirement celebration for Reid Morgan; please RSVP

Please join us for a retirement party honoring Senior Vice President and General Counsel Reid Morgan (’75, JD ’79) on Tuesday, May 14, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Manchester Plaza.

Remarks will begin at 4 p.m.

Morgan served as vice president and general counsel for Wake Forest from 2000 until he retired in June 2023. He continued as secretary of the Board of Trustees through the 2023-24 academic year. Morgan joined Wake Forest staff in 1980, and across 44 years, he has served in the administrations of four University presidents. In 2023, Morgan was awarded the Medallion of Merit, Wake Forest’s highest honor for service to the University.

Join President Wente: Register for lunch, President's Ball

President Susan R. Wente invites faculty and staff to the final Wednesdays with Wente lunch conversation of the semester on April 17. These informal conversations enable small groups of faculty and staff to connect with President Wente (and each other) on a range of topics. April is Asian / AAPI Heritage Month at Wake Forest

Get ready to celebrate Asian/AAPI Heritage Month at Wake Forest: This month is celebrated nationally in May, but like most college campuses, the Intercultural Center is observing in April because of the academic calendar. See the full calendar of events.

On Friday, enjoy the East Asian Spring Festival in Sutton C407 from 6-8 p.m. Dive into a vibrant cultural event, and explore everything East Asia has to offer through food, performances and entertainment in a fair-style event. The Spring Festival is a time to gather with your friends, make lanterns, play games, eat delicious food, and participate in various crafts and fun activities. This festival is hosted by the Japanese Studies Club and the Chinese Culture Club. Faculty and staff (and their families) are welcome.

Faculty and Staff Night at men’s basketball, Feb. 3

Wake Forest faculty and staff are invited to attend Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night at Wake Forest men’s basketball on Saturday, Feb. 3. Help cheer on the Deacons as they take on Syracuse at 7 p.m. in Joel Coliseum. This event is sponsored by Athletics, Human Resources and the Office of the Provost.

Faculty and staff may request up to two free game tickets and one parking pass per employee. Complete this form to request your tickets; tickets are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. A $10 concession voucher will accompany each free game ticket.

Human Resources will respond to all ticket requests on Thursday, Jan. 25, with additional information for collecting your free tickets and parking pass digitally. Additional discounted game tickets will be available to purchase at the same time. Faculty and staff must have a WFU email to request tickets.
