Parking availability Thursday and Friday (April 18 and 19)

In preparation for the Board of Trustees, a track invitational and various other events, Transportation & Parking Services would like to share the following information regarding available parking. Please share with your colleagues appropriately.

Thursday, April 18

  • Parking Lots B, C, D, and Davis Field will be reserved for event parking.
  • Faculty/Staff Parking Options: Parking Lots A, E, P, or Wake Forest Road

Friday, April 19

  • Parking Lots B, C, D, X, and the outer loop of Lot A will be reserved for event parking.
    Faculty/Staff Parking Options: Parking Lots A, P, Q or Wake Forest Road

Retirement celebration for Reid Morgan; please RSVP

Please join us for a retirement party honoring Senior Vice President and General Counsel Reid Morgan (’75, JD ’79) on Tuesday, May 14, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Manchester Plaza.

Remarks will begin at 4 p.m.

Morgan served as vice president and general counsel for Wake Forest from 2000 until he retired in June 2023. He continued as secretary of the Board of Trustees through the 2023-24 academic year. Morgan joined Wake Forest staff in 1980, and across 44 years, he has served in the administrations of four University presidents. In 2023, Morgan was awarded the Medallion of Merit, Wake Forest’s highest honor for service to the University.

The Office of the Provost is committed to our faculty’s generation of new knowledge through research, scholarship and creative activity. We have greatly appreciated your feedback across the strategic framing process on how best to strengthen our support for your critical work. We have begun putting your advice into action, and are pleased to share some significant changes in our research operations in response to your needs.

Service to be held April 13 in Charlotte for Janey Thompson

A memorial service honoring the life of Jane (Janey) Thompson, who died April 9, will be held Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m. at Myers Park United Methodist in Charlotte, N.C.

Please be advised that the memorial service is expected to be well-attended by family, friends, and her local community. Please plan accordingly when making your travel arrangements for the service. Parking will be limited, so an early arrival (no later than 1 p.m.) is recommended.

Campus Life is offering students a limited number of seats for bus transportation. To take advantage of this opportunity, please reserve your seat here. Further instructions for this option will be sent with your reservation confirmation.

The family requests that if you were a teammate of Janey’s, please wear your jersey.

Associate professor of German Heiko Wiggers has died

Associate professor of German Heiko Wiggers passed away on April 10. He was a faculty member in the German and Russian department for 19 years. In addition to teaching, he led the Business German program and managed summer internships in Germany for students.
