University Police Department offers online lost and found service

The University Police Department has joined with an online lost and found web site  to assist the campus community in recovering lost property.

LostandFound.com has a Wake Forest-specific web site available to students, faculty, staff and others to list anything they have lost or found at the University.  Anyone can search found items and list lost or found items on the web site.

The police department also uses the web site to post information about items its officers have found or items turned in to the department.

The police department encourages property owners who have been contacted by a finder other than the department to use caution when arranging to retrieve an item.  The police department recommends that an owner arrange to meet a finder at the department’s Alumni Hall office.  It is further recommended by the police department that an owner never agree to meet a finder at the finder’s location or an unfamiliar location.

Additionally, it is recommended that a property owner, once contacted by the police department, retrieve an item as soon as possible after contacted. Found property will be held by the police department for 180 days before the department disposes of it.

The police department has also adopted a new procedure for dealing with found Wake Forest ID cards and Wake Forest-issued keys.  Anyone who has lost an ID card is recommended to contact the Deacon OneCard Office at 336-758-1949.  Anyone who has lost a residence hall room key is recommended to contact Residence Life and Housing staff.

Additional details on how the police department handles lost and found matters is available here.  Information is also available by calling the police department’s evidence office at 336-758-5716 or emailing Taylorkc@wfu.edu.
