Wake the eBooks Festival happening in June

Library Partners Press is pleased to announce the program and schedule of events for the upcoming Wake the eBooks Festival, to be held on Friday, June 3, in Z. Smith Reynolds Library. Now in its second year, the Festival brings librarians and publishers together to demonstrate both the fine art of content curation and the simple science of sharing.

Festival registration is free, but closes soon, so please do reserve your spot today.

The Festival Schedule:

THE BOOKFEAST, 9:30 AM -12:00 NOON
9:30 am: triumphant arrival at ZSR, awkward greetings, coffee
10:00 am: official welcome by Susan S. Smith, Assoc Dean, ZSR Library, WFU
10:15 am: “Publishing Is the New Polite,” by William P. Kane, Library Partners Press
11:00 am: “Freemium Is the New Free,” by Andrea Eastman-Mullins, Alexander Street Press
11:30 am: “Self-E Is the New Selfie,” by Michell Davis, Bibliolabs

THE ROCK OPERA, 12:00 NOON – 1:30 PM
12:00 noon: “Bezos Vice Superstar,” a lunchtime concert, featuring Doug Davis, Mediocre Bad Guys

THE EBOOKS FREAKOUT
1:30 pm: “Textbooks Are (Not) the New OER,” by Beth Bernhardt, of UNC-Greensboro
2:15 pm: “Old Research Is (Not) the New Internet,” by Mitchell Davis, Bibliolabs
2:45 pm: “Publishing Is (Not) the New Collection Development,” by You Know Who
3:00 pm: Adjourn, including a Call-to-arms, some Group Hugs, and the usual Fare-Thee-Wells
